What is a Supplemental Needs Trust (SNT)?

A supplemental needs trust (SNT) is an essential financial planning tool for any person with a disability who receives benefits under one or more means-tested government programs, such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Protecting Benefit Eligibility with an SNT

A supplemental needs trust, sometimes referred to as a “special needs trust”, is a special type of trust created for people with disabilities. Using a supplemental needs trust you, or a family member or loved one, can set aside money for life-enhancing items not covered by government benefits without jeopardizing your eligibility!

NYSARC's Supplemental Needs Trust Options:

FIRST Party - funded by the Beneficiary

THIRD Party - funded by someone other than the Beneficiary
